Why are some items hard to recycle? Everything is recyclable in theory, but what determines whether a product is easy to recycle (like containers and paper) or hard to recycle (like electronics) is having a buyer, or market for the materials. For a market to exist, there must be
a manufacturer willing and able to process the material and create another use for it. At ECO-Cycle in Boulder, CO, they work hard to seek
out new and local markets for hard-to-recycle materials and to share their successes with recyclers throughout the US and beyond. Sneakers; bicycles and tires; cloth (material is cut into 8” squares and bundled into bails, like hay) and then sold to manufactures who can spit it back out in another format.
We do what we can to reduce, reuse, recycle.
